CIMA'S T4 REPORT WRITING TIPS

EASY REPORT WRITING TIPS FOR T4 CANDIDATES

All those students who pass strategic levels heave a sigh of relief that just one small hurdle is left, the T4( top cima) to qualify and attain  the status of CIMA QUALIFIED .

It’s good to be optimistic but one has to prepare for the likely risk and brace up to tackle it like a soldier in field. This is applicable for T4 as well that gives the illusion as just another report but has its own set of tricks to follow.

Here I would like to give a step by step preparation for T4 for all those students who had not been able to pass it. I’m sure like these techniques helped me would do so for all the other candidates. That I intend to do via my educational blogs

How to write the report:

First and foremost every T4 candidate must bear in mind that this is an entirely different paper from the rest of 14 papers and you must familiarize yourself to the various focal points on which examiner marks the report like Judgement, Technical, Focus etc so as to attain easy marks that often candidates with poor knowledge of report writing overlook.

It is very important that candidates must understand for whom the report is to be prepared. So all the issues in the unseen that has been requested by him/her becomes highly important and must be included in the report.

Reading the requirement clearly is a tricky part that under- pressure and un prepared candidates overlook. I have described it in the form of an example

  • If the requirement clearly states. Tell the options available for XYZ then instead of applying JSW model just options need to be written in the report
  • If the requirement doesn’t state anything then it’s the liberty of the writer to either use JSW or the option. Its preferable that JSW is used for the 3rd or fourth priority due to the lack of objectivity in
  • The word count for 1st and 2nd priority is more than the preceding one’s .

The report has to be prepared in a proper way as expected of a cima member. With proper headings, every options discussed in bullet point, a well chalked out calculation, conclusion. As this can get you the 5 marks allocated for completeness of the report and one must strife for every single mark in a competitive exam as T4.

Paper based candidates should use a separate sheet of paper for every issue. Calculation should be done in the beginning of the report on the few pages left for appendix.

For the PC based candidates page breaks has to be used after every issue. Technical marks ( swot, mendlew) stated in a proper box  with bullets for each  of postulates etc.

Its highly recommended that the T4 report to be completed in time with part B. As this is the differentiating factor between the successful and the candidates who fail to pass it.

Like every other exam practice is the key in T4 as well. The more you do it the more will be the chances of success.  I hope that every T4 aspirant will find these easy tips useful.
